I do not take a great many portraits. For me, the portrait can only be its most powerful when it is not too specific, when it has something within it that appeals to the viewer in a more universal way. These are a sampling of the faces and figures that have moved me, that have lead me to thoughts larger than mere identification. They represent those stories that were begun and then abruptly stopped, stories with unresolved endings, stories that linger in the mind.
