As a photographer, my interest is in implication rather declaration. I am drawn again and again to aspects of reality which, when looked at in a certain way, do not force a single-point narrative. The battle between light and dark, between description and suggestion enthral me. The most exciting moments are those when I see something whose meaning remains unresolved, when an image can disquiet me as well as transfix me with its beauty; an image that can turn its back on me as well as reveal.

I try to ask questions in a voice that does not shout, and the relationship between myself and an image is much like the conversation that two people not well known to each other might engage in late at night – a kind of sotto voce exchange in which the participants are required to lean toward one another, quieten down, listen carefully.
